Educational Qualification

Candidates must have a Degree/Graduation in any discipline from a University recognized by the Government of India or an equivalent qualification recognized by the Central Government.

Local Language Requirement

Candidates must fulfil the local-language requirement for the State selected by them.

Canara Bank Apprentice Stipend 2026

Selected apprentices will receive a monthly stipend of:

This amount includes the Government of India’s subsidy, if applicable.

The stipend structure is:

  • Canara Bank contribution: Rs. 10,500/- per month
  • Government of India contribution: Rs. 6,150/- per month through DBT

The stipend is paid monthly after adjustment of loss of pay, if any. Apprentices are not eligible for any other allowances or benefits.

Apprenticeship Duration

The total period of apprenticeship training is:

The On-the-Job Training (OJT) will be provided at selected Canara Bank branches according to the prescribed course/curriculum.

Is Canara Bank Apprentice a Permanent Job?

No.

Candidates engaged as apprentices will not be treated as employees of Canara Bank and will not be entitled to the regular employee benefits of the Bank.

Canara Bank also has no obligation to offer regular employment to apprentices during or after completion of the apprenticeship training. After completion of training, candidates will be relieved from their respective training areas.

Selection Process

Canara Bank will prepare a State-wise merit list based on the marks/percentage obtained in the candidate’s:

  • 12th Standard (HSC/10+2), or
  • Diploma Examination

The merit list will be prepared in descending order of percentage.

If two or more candidates have the same percentage, the candidate’s age in descending order will be used for ranking.

Minimum Qualifying Marks

Candidates must have obtained at least:

  • 60% marks in 12th/Diploma for General/EWS/OBC candidates as applicable
  • 55% marks for SC/ST/PwBD candidates

A fraction below the required percentage will not be rounded up. For example, 59.99% will be treated as below 60% and 54.99% as below 55%.

Final Selection

Final selection will be subject to:

  1. Verification of eligibility and information provided in the application.
  2. Qualification in the local-language test, where applicable.
  3. Medical fitness as required by Canara Bank.

Document Verification and the local-language test will be conducted during the Document Verification process.

Who is Not Eligible?

The following candidates are not eligible:

  • Candidates who have already undergone apprenticeship training with Canara Bank or another organization under the Apprentices Act.
  • Candidates who are currently undergoing apprenticeship training.
  • Candidates whose previous apprenticeship was terminated due to their own fault.
  • Candidates who have undergone training or have one or more years of job experience after completing the educational qualification.

Also, Ex-Servicemen and Disabled Ex-Servicemen will not be engaged as apprentices under this notification.
