Educational Qualification SSC JE Recruitment 2026

Educational qualification depends on the post and organization.

Junior Engineer Civil

For several Civil Engineering posts, candidates need either:

• Degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized University/Institute, or
• Three-year Diploma in Civil Engineering from a recognized University/Institute/Board, along with the prescribed experience wherever required.

For BRO, candidates with a three-year Diploma must have two years’ experience in Planning/Execution/Maintenance of Civil Engineering works.

Junior Engineer Electrical/Mechanical

Age Limit SSC JE Recruitment 2026

The crucial date for determining age is 01 August 2026.

For posts having an upper age limit of 30 years, candidates must have been born between 02 August 1996 and 01 August 2008.

For posts having an upper age limit of 32 years, candidates must have been born between 02 August 1994 and 01 August 2008.

Age Relaxation

The notification also provides specified relaxation for eligible Defence Personnel disabled in operations.

SSC JE Exam Pattern 2026

The examination will consist of two Computer-Based Examination papers:

Paper-I

Duration: 2 hours

Candidates eligible for a scribe will receive 2 hours 40 minutes.

For Civil candidates, the technical section is General Engineering (Civil & Structural). Electrical candidates attempt General Engineering (Electrical), while Mechanical candidates attempt General Engineering (Mechanical). Paper-II

Paper-II consists of the relevant engineering/technical subject:

100 questions – 300 marks

Duration: 2 hours

Candidates eligible for a scribe will get 2 hours 40 minutes.

Paper-I is qualifying in nature, and candidates are shortlisted for Paper-II based on normalized Paper-I marks. Final merit is determined using the normalized marks of Paper-II.

Negative Marking

There will be negative marking in both papers:

• Paper-I: 0.25 marks for each wrong answer
• Paper-II: 1 mark for each wrong answer

Both papers contain Objective Type Multiple Choice Questions, and questions are set in Hindi and English.

Minimum Qualifying Marks

The minimum qualifying marks are:

• UR: 30%
• OBC/EWS: 25%
• All other categories: 20%

Paper-I is qualifying and is used to shortlist candidates for Paper-II.

SSC JE Recruitment 2026 Application Correction

The correction window will remain open from 28 September to 30 September 2026 up to 11:00 PM.

A candidate can correct and resubmit the application two times during the correction window.

Correction charges are:

• First correction: ₹200
• Second correction: ₹500

The correction charges apply to all candidates irrespective of gender or category.

Photograph and Signature Requirements

SSC’s online application module captures a real-time photograph while filling the application.

Candidates should:

• Use good lighting and a plain background.
• Keep the camera at eye level.
• Face the camera directly.

Selection Process SSC JE Recruitment 2026

The SSC JE selection process involves:
